A small research group at Logan University in Utah conducts a detailed study on the atom. But the experiment goes awry. One by one, the atoms collide and absorb each other, eventually forming a singularity —a black hole— within the laboratory itself. As the researchers attempt to contain the singularity, a strange phenomenon occurs around them: time slows down. Suddenly, the entire small town of Logan, Utah, finds itself frozen in time, cut off from the rest of the world.
In this very conservative state of the US, the population becomes divided. Armed, radical conservatives take over the laboratory enclosure. For these citizens, who do not identify with progressive America, this sudden isolation is a blessing.
A resistance forms. Risking their lives, our heroes must infiltrate the laboratory and destroy the singularity. Time is running out.
